This unique bag that was introduced in 1963 with a plastic zipper seal has become a kitchen staple. Since then, this common household item has made everybody’s life easier and is incredibly useful. Here are some ideas for its use:
Knead dough. Place dough in a Zip bag so your fingers don’t get sticky. Or slip your hand into the bag and wear it like a glove.
5 Minute Ice cream with 2 Zip bags. Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 cup of cream, vanilla essence and pour into one of the small bags and lock. Fill half of a larger bag with ice, add ½ cups of large grain salt, and place the small bag inside, lock. Shake the bag for 5 minutes, open the large bag and see if the ice cream has turned solid. If not continue shaking, Rinse the small bag in cold water to wash off the salt. Get a spoon! And indulge!
Protect tablet from spills. Throw your tablet in a gallon size sip bag and use it to reference recipes during meal prep. This also works great for any electronic item such as a phone, camera from being splashed. *Note: The device’s touch screen still works through the plastic.
Fresh Scent. Fill the bags with a pleasant sachet scent, like potpourri or dried lavender, and then poke tiny holes into it with a sewing pin. After you’re done, place it in a drawer to keep your clothes smelling fresh
DIY nail sticker. Just paint and polish on a zip bag. Leave it completely dry, peel and apply with clear polish.
